Updating firmware on dlink router
Only solution would be to update the firmware to DD-WRT. These are the steps I took to complete the upgrade.Searched on the DD-WRT database if there was an update for my router, fortunately there was (revision C2).So I guess I’m keeping this hardware for now, it’s not the fastest but it’s stable enough for my use. If I use Fire Fox, it shows no progress and the orange blinking light power disappears.Hope this helps ^_^ I followed these steps and it doesn’t matter what internet browser I use, it will NEVER upload ANY version to the site. How long does it really take to flash the bin image? You must connect Dlink directly using an ethernet cable, with the LAN slot 1-4 and the other end into your computer. HOWEVER something that may help is you have to configure your ETHERNET connection through control panel on your PC.Most updates are functionality improvements, some may be security measures, others just solve known bugs in previous firmware versions that you may have never encountered anyway.
Some say ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ and others like to upgrade firmware with every new version released. From time to time, I will check to see if there are any available firmware updates, but I may only do this a few times a year.
